Meet the Camper: Maddie Fitzgerald

Even though last year was Maddie Fitzgerald’s first year in the journalism world, she is “all systems go” to prepare for the upcoming school year.

Fitzgerald is a writer on the yearbook staff at Blue Valley Northwest.  While she doesn’t plan to go into anything journalism-related in college, she enjoys the class.  She hopes to be an editor for her yearbook later.

Yearbook is her favorite class, and she wants to learn and find new ideas to improve her school’s yearbook. Fitzgerald’s teacher, Jim McCrossen, pushed her and his other students to go to the Flint Hills Journalism Workshop.

“I wanted to come to this camp mainly because my yearbook adviser is awesome, and he really wanted his staff to go,” Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald will be a sophomore next year. She wants to be “some kind of doctor” when she is older, but for now, she will stick to her yearbook duties and learn about what journalism entails at Flint Hills Journalism Workshop.
