Chris Bishop, 18, from Blue Valley High School, at journalism camp. Alone.
Well, Chris was not quite alone, but he came to camp with only seven other peers, who happen to all be girls. This left Chris to fend for himself when it came to the sleeping situation.
“I was sacred as hell,” Chris said when describing his first encounter with his new roomies.
“This could either go really well or really badly,” Bishop said while twisting around his many hemp bracelets.
When first meeting his roommates, he said he was very nervous as to what the outcome of the next four days would be.
Chris was the first to the room and once the other three boys showed up they all exchanged their awkward “hello’s” and “nice to meet you’s.”
“Michael Huff turned out to be OK, Joe Wenberg was cool, and as for Matt Riedl, well, he’s just special,” Chris said pointing towards Matt as he strummed his plastic air guitar.
As for the reaction from the three boys who had the pleasure of accommodating Chris in their room, they all think he was very socially acceptable.
“He’s a good roomie,” Matt said. “He knows what’s up.”
After the initial meeting the awkwardness of the whole situation lowered dramatically and all of the boys started to pal around. The only thing that Chirs was still somewhat weary about was Tom, the life-size cardboard cutout that spent the week at camp.
“Just as long as they don’t put him next to my bed for me to wake up to and freak out, I’m fine,” he said.
